Fire Storm is the second book in the Kaely Quinn Profiler series by Nancy Mehl. First of all, the cover is stunning. It shows a house partially burned in the snow with embers floating down in the foreground. This book can be read as a stand alone but it it best read after Mind Games, book one in the series/5.

Mehl ratchets up the tension as more buildings burn and clues pile up. While the arson plot is propulsive, Kaely’s imaginary version of an estranged friend whom she floats her ideas by, as well as her penchant for aggressively questioning people without direct connection to the case, strain the plot’s believability. Immediately after reading Mind Games by Nancy Mehl last year, I added Fire Storm to my wishlist. Profiler shows are some of my favorite genres to watch on TV (Criminal Minds, anyone?) and this series features a really cool gal named Kaely Quinn. I was really hoping that Fire Storm would take a deeper look at Kaely’s backstory and relationships.
